AzbookA is the first Russian-language children’s library in Croatia. We opened it in May 2024, and a good deal of this site grew out of it.
Over a thousand books and games for ages 0 to 18, from board books to encyclopaedias and comics. Three memberships from €6 a month, unlimited swaps, no deposit. Cannot get to us? Choose from the online catalogue and we send them by courier across Zagreb.
Everything else lives around the library: Reggio Emilia-inspired classes for ages 3–6, a small summer camp beside Maksimir park, a book club and family celebrations.
And separately — if you are moving here
Events and children are about a life already under way. But first there is usually paperwork, housing and finding a doctor.
We keep a ten-part guide: residence permits and the grounds for them, OIB, renting, healthcare and HZZO, banking, what a month actually costs, transport, schools and nurseries, the Croatian language, and work and setting up a business.
We publish only what can be checked, flag plainly where rules shift, and do not promise "a residence permit in two weeks" — that is not how it works.
