Zagreb on foot
Zagreb does not give itself away at first glance. There is no sea and no postcard promenade — but there is a dense layer of Austro-Hungarian city, a working market in the middle of it, and a habit of spending Saturday morning over coffee outdoors. Easy to miss if you do not know where to look.
Routes
Upper Town and Kaptol
Gradec and Kaptol — two hills that were separate towns for centuries and once went to war over a mill. Tkalčićeva street where the dividing stream used to run, St Mark's and its tiled coat of arms, the Stone Gate, the noon cannon from Lotrščak, and the cathedral still under repair after the 2020 earthquake.
The Green Horseshoe
The Lower Town, laid out in the 19th century as a horseshoe of parks and squares — Zrinjevac, the Academy, the Botanical Garden. You can see Zagreb deliberately building itself into a European capital before it was one.
Dolac and food
The central market under its red umbrellas — "the belly of Zagreb". What is seasonal, what is local, what proper štrukli looks like, and why coffee here is not a drink but a way of spending time. Tastings included.
Mirogoj
A cemetery built as a single architectural composition, with arcades, domes and sections for every faith side by side. One of the most beautiful places in the city and the fastest way to understand who this city was made of.

Out of town
Medvednica and Sljeme, Samobor and its kremšnite, Zagorje with its castles and villages. Half-day or full-day, routed to the season and the weather.
How it runs
Groups stay small, so it can be a conversation rather than a broadcast. The pace is unhurried and there is a coffee stop — this is a walk, not an endurance event.
Routes bend to fit you. Coming with children, with older parents, or with a pushchair? Say so in advance and we will build a version with fewer stairs — the Upper Town has plenty.
Zagreb weather changes its mind. Rain is not a reason to cancel: parts of the route swap for indoor stops, and in December the city is at its best anyway because of Advent.

What language?
Russian is the default. English is available — mention it when you book.
What does it cost?
It depends on the route, the length and the group size. Tell us which route and how many of you there are, and we will quote before you book.
What if it rains?
We walk if the rain is moderate — Zagreb in the rain has its own charm. In heavy rain or a storm we move it to another day, no penalty.
Can I bring children?
Yes. Tell us their ages in advance so we can set the pace and cut the stairs.
